Johnson & Johnson’s Bankruptcy Rejection: A Win for Victims of Talc-Related Cancers

By Nairis Pimentel

On January 30, 2023, a U.S. court rejected[1] Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) attempt to file for bankruptcy in response to the tens of thousands of lawsuits it faces over its talc-based products, which are alleged to have caused cancer in some users. Our firm has been battling for many clients in the litigation for the last ten years.

What does this mean for Victims of Talcum Powder Cancers?

This rejection is a significant victory for the plaintiffs in these lawsuits, who have fought for years to hold Johnson & Johnson accountable for its actions. The rejection means that the pharmaceutical company will not be able to use bankruptcy to shield itself from the consequences of its actions and will be forced to the thousands of lawsuits head-on.

This is an important moment for victims of talc-related cancer and their families, who have suffered greatly because of Johnson & Johnson’s actions. For years, Johnson & Johnson has faced allegations that its talc products contain asbestos and that the company knew or should have known about this dangerous substance. They have refused to accept responsibility for their products, even though they have been removed from store shelves everywhere on the globe.

This court decision is a clear indication that the justice system is taking these cases seriously and that corporations like Johnson & Johnson should be held accountable for their actions.
