Marilyn Manson, the shock rock icon who’s also known as Brian Warner has been accused of sexually abusing a woman who was in her teens when the abuse began.
According to TMZ, “In a Rolling Stone article in 2016, Wood began speaking out about being a survivor of sexual abuse and domestic violence and became an activist for other survivors.
The Allegations and Manson’s Response
She went before Congress in 2018 to describe her struggles as a rape victim and push for the sexual assault survivor’s bill of rights to be passed nationwide. Still, she’s never named her alleged abuser until today.
Manson took to Twitter to respond oddly: “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”
Multiple Women Come Forward
For Manson, the news keeps getting worse. The Huffington Post reports, ” Musician Marilyn Manson has been accused of abuse by multiple women, with allegations ranging from sexual assault to psychological abuse. Two male security guards filed lawsuits against Manson in the early 2000s, accusing him of sexually assaulting them at his concerts by rubbing his crotch on their heads without consent. The charges were dismissed in one case and Manson reached a private settlement in the other. Scarlett Kapella has alleged Manson subjected her to emotional, physical and sexual abuse after pursuing her in 2011 while she was modeling in Mexico City.
“I had respected him as an artist and was thrilled he wanted to work with me and wanted to paint me,” she posted on Instagram. “He would go from charming & loving to complete monster behavior….He exploited an unequal power dynamic and put me in a place of fear, controlling when I was allowed to speak, what outfits and color lipstick I could wear.”
As days pass, we will likely hear more stories of sexual harassment, psychological abuse, and sexual abuse. Is this becoming another Harvey Weinstein situation?
