Eight DePuy Orthopedics executives will be required by the court to testify in the ASR metal-on-metal hip implant litigation. DePuy Orthopedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, is facing thousands of lawsuits filed against them because of recalled faulty metal-on-metal hip implants that have proven again and again to have dangerous health effects on patients. Implants that were expected to last for 15 years have been failing just after a few years, forcing patients to undergo dreadful surgery to replace the faulty devices.
David Floyd, Andrew Ekdahl, Tom Camino, Rodrigo Diaz, Paul Kurring, Matt Reimink, Mary Stewart, Paul Voorhorst, are former or current executives that held or currently hold positions that relate to the development of the failing metal-on-metal hip implants. In addition to those executives, the plaintiffs have also requested that Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson, testify in potential Delaware trials. They claim that Gorsky’s involvement in making decisions should require him to testify.
Some of the documents to be used in the cross examination of the witnesses will be ones that David Rheingold and the discovery team have reviewed in preparation of the upcoming federal and New Jersey trials.
