Thomas P. Giuffra, partner at the law firm of Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo Plotkin & Hellman LLP, won his 18th million dollar verdict last week in NYS Supreme Court, Staten Island. In winning the $2.5 million verdict Mr. Giuffra becomes one of the only lawyers in NYC who has million dollar verdicts in all five boroughs of NYC as well as Nassau and Suffolk counties.
It is verdicts such as these which allow Mr. Giuffra to qualify as an “Advocate” for the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), held by only 28 New York lawyers. ABOTA is an organization dedicated to preserving the constitutional vision of equal justice for all Americans and the preservation of our civil justice system, and in particular the right to trial by jury. “Advocate” status in ABOTA is one of the highest honors that can be attained by a civil trial lawyer.
Mr. Giuffra has had one of the largest verdicts in New York State every year from 2008 to 2014 as reported by the New York Law Journal. In 2014, the New York Law Journal selected four of Tom’s verdicts for inclusion in their Malpractice Verdict & Settlements Hall of Fame. Tom’s most recent million dollar verdict demonstrates his dedication to his clients together with outstanding skills as an advocate. This verdict will continue to propel Tom’s status as one of the highest ranking attorneys in the New York area. Since 2012, Tom has been named as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in the New York Metropolitan Area by Super Lawyers. For the past seven years, he has been recognized as one of the Top 5% of Lawyers in the New York Metropolitan Area by Super Lawyers for personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
