Mass Tort Litigation Rises in New Jersey

By Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo Plotkin & Hellman LLP

By: Kelda Doherty

Our litigation firm has followed a recent trend of increased suits being filed in New Jersey courts. While the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas has seen its number of mass tort litigations drop by 70% in 2012, legal commentators say that this is not a reflection of the mass tort cases in the rest of the country. Administrative changes have been blamed for the recent decrease of cases being filed in Philadelphia; these include the end of reverse bifurcation and the consolidation of pharmaceutical cases. According to plaintiff attorneys, it was felt that these administrative changes sent out a signal to attorneys across the country not to file your cases in Philadelphia.

As a result more and more cases are being filed elsewhere such as in New Jersey where more certainty is found having experienced no administrative changes. Here at Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo Plotkin & Hellman LLP, attorneys have extensive experience in the state of New Jersey filing the majority of our cases there. With in depth knowledge of states justices and administrative rules we can help secure the best result for you.
