We are proud to announce that Thomas Giuffra’s $9 million verdict in G. v. Mari will be the lead verdict in the next Jury Verdict Reporter, a nationally recognized journal reporting on the most significant trial verdicts and settlements throughout the United States.
A Manhattan jury recently awarded nine million dollars in a traumatic brain injury case. The plaintiff, a 22-year-old college student at the time of the accident, was the victim of negligent driving when the defendant made a left-hand turn into her vehicle. The force of the impact deployed the airbag that in turn knocked her wrist into her forehead at approximately 200 miles per hour. The considerable blow to the forehead caused the plaintiff’s brain to crash against the inside of her skull causing immediate bruising.
This is also known as diffuse axonal injury. She suffered a traumatic brain injury which tragically developed into severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic seizures, right wrist fracture and damage to the medial meniscus that required surgery.
