Sean “Diddy” Combs Arrested, Will Appear in Court as Federal Indictment Will Be Unsealed

By Thomas P. Giuffra

Sean “Diddy” Combs, a hip-hop mogul and music king, was arrested yesterday in a New York hotel after a grand jury decided to indict him. Combs talent and meteoric rise in business and pop culture are only matched by his dark reputation and the slew of allegations against him concerning sexual abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

The arrest comes months after law enforcement authorities raided and searched his homes looking for evidence of his crimes. Combs has been dogged by allegations of sexual abuse and human sex trafficking so yesterday’s arrest did not surprise anyone.

The latest sexual assault lawsuit was filed by a member of his band Dawn Richard who alleged battery, false imprisonment, withholding millions of dollars in unpaid royalties and wages, as well as stealing her copyrighted works. This latest lawsuit was at least the eighth filed against the 58-year-old musician in recent years. However, the indictment and arrest may serve as the low point of his career and potentially serve as the most serious of the events surrounding Combs since the indictment is criminal rather than civil.

While we don’t know the specific charges in the indictment yet, they may include human sex trafficking, a charge Combs has vehemently denied over the years. In May 2016, a video surfaced showing Combs violently beating and kicking former girlfriend Cassandra Ventura.

The plethora of allegations against Combs span three decades and his accusers are both male and female.
